The Indiana Division of the United States Canoe Association
held the 39th Annual Sugar Creek Canoe and Kayak Races, on Saturday, April
28, 2001. Special thanks go out to the individuals who made this race
happen, they include: Bob Stwalley, Erin Begue, Kurt
Begue, Crawfordsville Journal Review, Crawfordsville Fire Department and
Rescue Team, Indiana DNR representatives and all the local
participants who made this years event special. Racers from
Kentucky, Arkansas, Ohio
and Indiana
attended this years event. The weather was perfect, cloud-less skies and
75 degree weather, with water levels just low enough to use the Alternate
Course, but not low enough to cause any serious issues.
The USCA is looking for an organization located in Montgomery County that
would be willing to co-sponsor the 2002 Sugar Creek race and take over full
responsibilities in 2003. If you have an organization that would like to
sponsor this race, please contact Kurt Begue,
