Minutes of the Fall Meeting of the
Indiana Division of USCA
November 8, 2003
1. President Ed Behnke opened the meeting at 12:30 PM with the elections
of new officers for 2004:
President - Ed Behnke
Competition Chairmen - Bill Kanost
Treasurer - Deb Kanost
2. Before awards of the state championship trophies for 2003 there was a discussion about orphan trophies, i.e. state points trophies not awarded because no one meet the minimum number of races required. An idea was suggested to insure we awarded all the state championship trophies each year. It was first decided to not have any orphan trophies with an 8 - 3 vote. We then decided to just cancel the minimum race requirement, if no one meet the requirement for the year, and award the trophy to the highest points acquired in each class, vote 11 - 0.

i. Mike Grube Memorial Rookie Awards 2003 - Devann Benson, Sonja Gilman,
Pam Metts, Alex Wait, Brent Ernsberger
4. Vice-President Steve Peterson awarded the Paddler of the Year trophy for 2003 to Bob Stwalley.
5. Historical Committee report from Bob Stwalley noted that he had some old boat molds from Wabash Valley stored in his barn if anyone was interested in using them, and he also had some old race records for the Sugar Creek Races.
6. New business discussed a Pro Boat Policy for the State Championship Points Awards for 2004. It was decided to adopt New England's, 1 minute per hour handicap system for 2004 for a trial bases with yearly reviews till it's decided it's time to phase out handicapping for Competition Cruisers versus Pro Boats, vote 11 - 0. Individual Race director will still run their races as they wish, either as separate awards for each class or applying a handicap to Pro Boats.
7. The meeting was adjourned and Competition Chairmen assembled the race directors in committee to schedule the races for 2004, see his report for the results of that meeting.
