INDIANA DIVISION OF THE USCA
FALL MEETING
NOVEMBER 5, 2005
1. President Ed Behnke opened the meeting at 12:15PM and proceeded with the election of new officers to serve the next term. Terry Pontius was elected President, Wendy Brinson - Treasurer, and Earl Metzler - Competition Chairman.
2. Earl Metzler suggested the Division include a Women's Sea Kayak Points Trophy in the awards for the racing season. The motion was made to have a Women's Sea Kayak Points Championship for the 2006 season, it was seconded and passed. At which time Earl surprised us with a trophy he and Frank Tinsley had already built and purchased to donate to the division. Earl presented it to Sonja Gilman as the 2005 points champion based on the points totals Earl had calculated from the 2005 season race results. Earl was requested to contact Buzz Lail to correct the listings in his races to reflect the races he intended to run. But to also let him know that the Division controls how points are awarded if he's not helpful in making it clear. We will not be awarding points to any races not summarized in a list.
3. Bill Kanost delivered the Treasurer's report. The balance coming to $2136.00.
4. The site and date for the Spring meeting was tentatively set for the Saturday of the Tippy race in May 2006 at John Pruett's cabin, contingent on John Pruett and Terry Pontius's approval. The Fall meeting site and date was set for Culver Beach Lodge and the First Saturday in November 2006.
5. Secretary Jim Anderson read the Spring 2005 minutes and reported the results of the Delegate Elections for the coming term. Matt Streib and Guy Gilman are our delegates to the national meetings.
6. Kurt Begue gave Historian Chairmanship report for Jerry Begue. Jim Anderson reported being contacted by Kelly Leffingwell about the Brookville race returning and their wishes to find the traveling trophy for the old race. Kelly had asked if they needed to go though the two year process to become a Points race again since the race had been one in 1991. The governing members agreed to put the Brookville race on our schedule but not to make it a Points race at this time.
7. Kurt Begue gave a report on the website and its search results.
